Is your heart set on treasures of this world, or on things above? This world likes to place a lot of emphasis on accumulating possessions and money. The mark of success is to have more of everything, right? This is not the way Jesus calls us to live. Jesus calls us not to accumulate wealth on earth, but to distribute our treasures to be used to serve God’s kingdom. In the Gospel of Luke Jesus says, “But when you give a banquet, invite the poor, the crippled, the lame, the blind, and you will be blessed. Although they cannot repay you, you will be.” When we give selflessly of our time, talents, and treasures, we are magnifying the worth of Jesus Christ. He gave His all for us. Shall we not find more treasure in that sacrifice than in the material things this world would have us value?
