No matter what the circumstances, grief recovery is a painful process. Here at Essential Rock Church, we have experienced this all too frequently just in 2017 alone. Our church body has been hit by the loss of several loved ones to cancer, heart attack, car accidents, and yes, even suicide. We have experienced first hand how devastating the death of a loved one can be and how deep the ongoing grieving process is that follows it.

We have decided to begin a special class that we will be starting at the end of July called GriefShare. GriefShare is a Christ-centered, community outreach support group whose goal is to help provide ongoing, effective ministry to people in our community who are grieving the death of a loved one.

We believe that God can use even the most painful of life's circumstances to bring people into a place of peace through the foundation of healing - a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Throughout the GriefShare program, you will hear people talking about the importance of a relationship with Jesus in healing from the deep pain of grief. In fact, you will hear it said that you cannot fully heal from grief without the power of Christ in your life. In the video below, actual GriefShare participants share their personal testimonies of grief recovery.

What is GriefShare?

GriefShare is a program with direction and purpose. With GriefShare, you will learn how to walk the journey of grief and be supported on the way. It is a place where hurting people find healing and hope.

It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel.

This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before.

GriefShare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements:

  • Each week your GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies, dramatic reenactments, and on-location video.

  • After viewing the video, you and the other group members will spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in your lives.

  • During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling. Your group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.

I would like to attend a GriefShare group at ERC.

Essential Rock Church will be hosting a GriefShare group beginning on July 28th at 6:30pm. Groups will last for approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours and will meet at the church at 40 E. Division Street in Fond du Lac. We request a donation of $20.00 per individual to cover the cost of the workbook, however, scholarships will be available for those who are unable to donate. Please call ________________ if you are interested in attending or have any questions. ______ can also be emailed at _____________________. There is no requirement on how long ago you suffered your loss, nor do you have to wait until the cycle of sessions begins again to start coming. Each GriefShare session material is self contained, so you can begin coming at any time throughout the 13 weeks. For a detailed list on the topics discussed, please go to: GriefShare Session Topics
